No Egito
Antigo, um jovem tem que superar uma série de provas
para se mostrar digno de merecer o coração
de sua amada. Rica em alegorias e rituais maçônicos, "A
Flauta Mágica" é reconhecida como uma
das principais óperas já produzidas.
Inicia-se
com três acordes majestosos, que segundo a lenda
correspondem aos três
passos ou graus fundamentais de todos os ensinamentos iniciáticos.

O austríaco
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) escreveu "A Flauta
Mágica" em seu último ano de vida e
conseguiu a proeza de fazer um espetáculo "popular",
de comunicação direta com o público,
sem abrir mão do rigor e da sofisticação.

Um dos
mais brilhantes e influentes maestros britânicos,
Sir Colin Davis em 1991 foi nomeado o 'Maestro Laureado' da Ópera
Estatal de Dresden, o primeiro a receber este título.
Em 1995 começou seu mandato como maestro principal da
Orquestra Sinfônica de Londres, e entre 1998 até 2003
ele foi o maestro convidado principal da Orquestra Filarmônica
de Nova Iorque. Em 31 de dezembro de 2006 Davis terminou seu
mandato na Orquestra Sinfônica de Londres e em 1 de janeiro
de 2007 tornou-se o presidente da orquestra.

Opera The Magic Flute - Mozart
A mythical land between the sun and the moon. Three
ladies in the service of the Queen of the Night save Prince
Tamino
from a serpent. The Queen, appearing in a burst of thunder,
tells Tamino about the abduction of her daughter, Pamina.
Tamino, who has fallen in love with a portrait of Pamina,
agrees to rescue her. The ladies give a magic flute to Tamino
and silver bells to his friend Papageno, the birdcatcher,
to ensure their safety on the journey and appoint three spirits
to guide them.

acclaimed production
of Mozart’s brilliant The Magic Flute

Led by the three spirits to the temple of
Sarastro, Tamino learns from a high priest that it is,
in fact, the Queen
who is evil. Sarastro tells the priests that Tamino will
undergo initiation rites, guided by the three spirits and
protected by the magic flute. Papageno uses his magic bells
to summon in his true love, Papagena. The Queen of the Night,
her three ladies, and Monostatos, Sarastro’s slave,
attack the temple but are defeated and banished. Sarastro
blesses Pamina and Tamino as all join in hailing the triumph
of courage, virtue, and wisdom.
